Why Vaccinate Your Pet? Build Natural Immunity Instead
Nov 21, 2016
This is a very loaded question and hard to make the right decision for so many pet owners these days. However, we promote building natural immunity.
So should we vaccinate?
We vaccinate because we are overly concerned about our animals health- Of course- as it should be!
We are worried they will contract certain diseases and their own natural immunity would not be enough – they wouldn’t be able to fight off a virus attack.
If we didn’t vaccinate our own guilt will overcome us if our pet gets sick or compromised in any way. But think again, are vaccines making our beloved pets sicker than if they had not been inoculated anyway?
This is what we cannot know….but we can get educated and informed.
I think it’s very important as responsible pet owners that we get educated about the subject – we must realize, that we, as a pet guardian, have many options.
We’ve accepted annual vaccines without questioning or even considering where that recommendation came from and what it really means. What is being put into those vaccines and who decided they are a necessity. The Vet tells us they need them and we feel this obligation to say OK, give them to my little friend that doesn’t have a clue what is happening. The truth is, we ARE vaccinating too much.
A vaccination is a cocktail of pathogens, chemicals and preservatives- and some containing Adjuvants. (certain substances that are added to vaccines to purposely cause inflammation at the vaccine site in order to alert the immune system to its presence.)
Vaccines contain killed or live microorganisms such as viruses or bacteria, that is administered to produce or increase immunity to a certain disease.
There can be no question as to whether or not that vaccines have saved many lives but they also have the potential to cause serious side effects. The side effects are many and some very serious.
It is very important to understand that no vaccine is 100% safe.
However, it is also very important to understand that vaccines save lives and there can be no debating that fact.
Most veterinarians recommend that cats, for example, receive a combination vaccine against feline distemper, calicivirus, and rhino. Many also encourage injections for Chlamydia, feline leukemia, feline AIDS, feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), and even a ringworm vaccine on top of the viral cocktail. These vaccines are typically given all at once and then repeated every year for the cat’s whole entire life, despite overwhelming scientific evidence that they are unnecessary and actually harmful in many cases.
I wish that I felt comfortable saying “ask your veterinarian for the best advice regarding the vaccination of your cats” but I don’t...Profit-hungry drug companies and vets are scaring pet owners into vaccinating their pets more often than necessary. The ‘Vaccination Business’ is a Major cash Cow for Many Veterinarians.
If the veterinarian has not discussed “core” versus other vaccines with you, he or she has done you a disservice. Don’t purchase “bundled” vaccines. Vaccinations should not be picked from a shopping list. You need to discuss pros and cons and tailor a health plan for your pet with your vet.
Over the years, I’ve collected lots of good information to help me make decisions about my pets health care and to share what I’ve learnt with other animal lovers.
Some pets have developed chronic health conditions after a round of injections. Vaccines do NOT protect, they do not immunize! In fact, they do just the opposite –they compromise the immune system and set the body up for disease – vaccinated animals become more susceptible to the very dis-ease/virus they are supposed to be protected from.Chronic problems may appear to be difficult to trace back to vaccinations, only because the symptoms or the health problems can begin weeks, months and even years later. However, when we understand what happens in the body when a vaccine is administered, we can begin to connect the dots.
You may ask your veterinarian to run titres that are available for certain diseases like distemper and parvo if you want to give the fewest vaccinations possible. A titre is a blood test that determines whether your animal is still protected by a previous vaccine.
Some veterinarians and pet owners who take a completely homeopathic or holistic approach to medicine think vaccines lower your pet’s immune system or cause disease.
They advocate giving only the core vaccines once or just using homeopathic nosodes with no vaccines at all. Building immunity naturally.
Traditional medicine advocates that vaccines be given to ensure that an animal is protected against serious and fatal diseases, taking into account the potential risks of vaccination. There has been a lot of research to prove that vaccines can cause certain health concerns.
I sure hope that Veterinarian’s would take notice of the research, and stop over-vaccinating our pets. All medical interventions come with a risk – even the humble aspirin can be deadly. Vaccines, like any pharmaceutical drug, are not without side effects. So re-vaccinating for the same pathogens year after year is more than just a waste of your money – it also poses ever increasing risks to your pet’s health.
So you have to do a risk/benefit analysis whenever you consider medications. What, then, are the risks of vaccines?
Vaccines can totally compromise the animal’s immune system, leading to all sorts of chronic illness and health conditions for life.
Vaccinosis (a condition which refers to a chronic disease pattern occurring after vaccination) does not afflict all vaccinated animals; some are lucky enough to have very strong immune systems. But if you or your animals have ever been affected by it, you’ll never forget it. You take a risk every time you allow your animals, your children, or yourself to be vaccinated unnecessarily.Remember, it’s your decision, unless the laws in your state complicate your freedom of choice.
Vaccines do not work all the time. In both human and veterinary medicine, there are many recorded instances of no immunity developing, or of so-called “vaccine breaks” occurring, whereby the stimulation of antibodies isn’t sufficient to protect against the natural disease. Conventional medicine claims those are body faults and problems.
There does appear to be a genetic component to which animals may have trouble responding to a vaccine, however, giving a non- responding animal more vaccines is unlikely to force an appropriate immune response, and it certainly can cause more problems.
Vaccination has become a highly charged subject in the news media lately. It seems that both doctors and pet owners who challenge the concept are most often treated as if they were outsiders and should be shunned.
Entire reputations of certain individuals have been disgraced and discredited for their challenge of the vaccine issue. The facts are clear however in veterinary medicine that the way vaccines are typically used today are extremely dangerous and potentially one of the most harmful things we could do to our animals.
From all I’ve seen and read, vaccines do not set your dog up for good health. Actually just the opposite.
They have the potential to make your dogs sickly- always dealing with something. Including becoming an itchy, scratchy, vomiting, diarrhea-filled, sickly, sub-normal shadows of their former selves – ready and waiting for the more serious killers like cancer to kick in. Vaccines represent the perfect recipe for the chronic illness epidemic we’ve been describing. A set up for thousands of $$$ in Vet bills in the making. Not to mention the hearkbreak and pain we and our beloved best friend must endure.
As a responsible pet guardian, you should think of your approach to vaccination as holistic but not self serving. In other words, not just throw the baby out with the bath water- Vaccinate when indicated and develop a complete wellness plan for your best friend. If one is not choosing to vaccinate, building immunity is important. Using nosodes is one way, but building a high vibe immune system is key. Raw fed, chemical free healthy pets are less susceptible to disease.
I strongly encourage you to seek out a holistic vet to care for your pet, and especially when it comes to vaccinations.
SO - Should we vaccinate our pets? I PERSONALLY DON'T RECOMMEND VACCINATION. Consider the overall health of your pet, plus the risk factors, and go from there.
Remember- this is not to say you should not vaccinate your pets. Just be educated and know what that options are before blindly inoculating your pet for everything your Vet recommends. Be informed! Every pet owner should discuss vaccine protocols with his or her veterinarian.
