Will Colloidal Silver Turn You Blue? and Other Safety Concerns

One of the great benefits of Colloidal Silver is that it is so safe, yet so effective.

So when our customers or people enquiring about colloidal silver ask us  about the possibility of silver turning their pets blue, or will colloidal silver turn you blue or the safety of colloidal silver in general, here are some answers to those concerns.

Will colloidal silver turn you blue?  It is called Argyria. Yes,  differing types of silver compounds have been known to cause argyria, the only known danger to the overuse of colloidal silver.  However this can only happen when ingested/inhaled in VERY LARGE quantities, quantities difficult or even impossible for us to ingest, given the type of CS we produce (20 ppm). Most of the cases of Argyria that you hear about are cause from high doses of the silver compound, silver-chloride.  Which is not what you will find on almost any website or store where purchasing colloidal silver is available.

Even some of the scientific estimates of the amount of colloidal silver needed to turn blue would be daily ingestion of many quarts of 20 ppm colloidal silver.

Yet I answer this question frequently to pet parents that are afraid to give too much colloidal silver to their pets when it’s not even possible with our 20PPM nano particle/ionic versions.

Silver in ANY form is deadly to over 650 different pathogens. It’s been clearly substantiated in laboratory testing that silver-chloride kills pathogens. So does silver-nitrate, silver-citrate, etc. There are other forms of colloidal silver for sale out there and differing colors as well.

Keep in mind, silver is just a mineral, and colloidal silver is just a type of mineral water.

It’s not a drug or toxic chemical that you must be careful about. You never see anyone afraid to drink too much mineral water because of the minerals in it, in fact, they drink it to GET the minerals in it. But most bottle mineral water products have far higher levels of the minerals that are in them than we have silver in what we brew.

Our concern over the interaction of silver with other minerals/substances (forming compounds, etc.) is also true about every other mineral as well.

The same is true of the mineral silver. There are some doctors in the US who insist that silver is an essential mineral that our bodies NEED, just like iron or selenium, and that a deficiency of silver contributes to poor health. CS should be treated like a supplement, not like a medicine.

I, personally have have been drinking about 6-8 oz/day of 20 ppm CS for several years now the only side effect of generous ingestion of CS is rarely getting sick.

Being a purist about CS production, in that I only make crystal clear CS, but that is because I sell it to pet owner's on our website, on amazon and the general public, and my trade-mark is crystal clear, high vibe Colloidal Silver for Pets. It is just fine to drink the yellow, amber or pink in color CS as well.  Periodically we accidently overbrew a batch of yellow/gold CS. Our family and I drink that stuff, and save the clear stuff to sell.

Is it safe to give it in the pet's food?

Yes.  The only substances I would be concerned about mixing silver with would be those that I would be concerned about putting in my pet's body in the first place, i.e., toxins and poisons.

Colloidal silver is safe, you don’t need to be careful with it. OK, if you are asking how one does turn blue from drinking it then use the dark, murky stuff, the coffee-colored CS and drink a pint or more of that each day for a few years. ( this is how smurf man did it I've read)

Have some basic, common sense. If it is clear or light yellow, drink it freely or give it to your kids and pets.  When sick or treating something give as much as you can as often as possible is the basic rule of thumb.

Don’t store it in soft, white milk-jug plastic – use glass or PET, BHA FREE plastic. If making your own at home brew it as long as you want but stop just before it turns yellow. Although, some people that make their own at home seem to like the yellow or light amber variety.

There, the above paragraph sums up all you need to know to be safe. As long as it’s clear, drink as freely as you want without fear. Use it everywhere and in everything, freely, generously, and watch as your pets thrive, yourself and your family stops catching colds, flu, etc.
